Bylaws of the Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy Hall of Fame

Introduction
Established in 2021, the Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy Hall of Fame recognizes Saint Joe’s graduates or special contributors who have helped define and advance the Saint Joseph’s mission and pillars of faith, scholarship, leadership, and service through their post-graduate achievements and/or contributions. Each Year, the Saint Joseph’s Hall of Fame Selection Committee may choose up to two honorees from a cumulative list of nominations submitted in writing to the Selection Committee. In celebration of Saint Joe’s 10th Anniversary, the inaugural Hall of Fame inductees will be announced during the 2021-2022 academic year and will be honored during a special ceremony held at Saint Joseph’s.

Bylaws

The Saint Joseph’s Hall of Fame Selection Committee adopts the following bylaws. The Committee reserves the right to amend the Bylaws, as needed by a simple majority vote.

I. Purpose
The purpose of the Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy Hall of Fame is to honor Saint Joe’s graduates or special contributors who continue to advance the Saint Joseph’s mission and pillars of faith, scholarship, leadership, and service (https://stjoeacad.org/about/four-pillars/ ). The Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy Hall of Fame seeks to recognize, preserve and promote the contributions and achievements of alumni and special contributors as a means of promoting excellence in the Saint Joe’s community.

II. Selection Committee
A. The Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy Hall of Fame Selection Committee is comprised of at least five (5) individuals:

  • Head of School (non-voting) or his/her designee
  • Two (2) members of the Board of Trustees
  • At least one current faculty member
  • At least one At-Large Member who may be, but is not limited to, an alumnus, a parent/guardian of a current student, parent/guardian of an alumnus, or other adult individual with established affinity for Saint Joe’s, its mission, or history.

B. The term for all members, except the Head of School or his/her designee, is two (2) years. A member may serve up to three (3) terms.

C. The inaugural members of the Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy Hall Selection Committee will be appointed.

III. Nominations

A. Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for nomination into the Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy Hall of Fame,

a) alumni nominees must have graduated from Saint Joe’s at least 6 years prior to their nomination.

b) nominees must have demonstrated personal integrity, an active faith life in their church, significant community service and/or meritorious professional or vocational achievement:

  • Meritorious professional achievement
    • may include – but not is not limited to – fields of industry, religion, science, business, the arts, medicine, the military, or athletics.
    • shall be deemed appropriate and worthy of recognition as determined by the Selection Committee
    • the nominee may not be a current member of the Saint Joseph’s faculty/staff, administration, member of the Hall of Fame Selection Committee, or child of a current committee member.
      d) the nominee may be an individual who has been a special contributor to Saint Joseph’s in a significant manner.

B. Process

Individuals who meet the above general eligibility criteria may be nominated by any individual who is NOT:

  1. Parent/guardian of the nominee.
  2. Member of the current Hall Selection Committee.

Nomination requirements

  1. Submission of the required Hall of Fame Nomination Form by the published deadline.
  2. Submission of optional supplementary materials including, but are not limited to the nominee’s resume, newspaper/magazine/web articles regarding the nominee, reviews, published works, etc.
  3. All materials submitted to:

Nominations remain active always as long as the nomination form is completed and submitted by deadlines.

IV. Voting Procedures
The typical timeline of the process includes a request for nominations in the spring of each year with a defined nomination deadline in late spring or early summer, followed by the selection committee meeting in the summer months.

All members of the Hall of Fame Selection Committee will be given access to a shared drive that includes each candidate’s nomination form and all supplementary materials regarding a nominee at least 2 weeks before the scheduled selection meeting.

At the selection meeting, committee members will vote as to whether each given nominee should be inducted into the Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy Hall of Fame.

Following this, those nominees who receive at least 75% of the vote will be ranked, with the top 2 nominees being offered induction into the Hall of Fame.

The Head of School will notify the selected individuals of their honor at least 6-8 weeks prior to the Hall of Fame Ceremony and will invite the selected individuals to attend the Hall of Fame ceremony.

V. Induction and Recognition
The selected Hall of Fame inductees will be recognized at an annual Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy Hall of Fame Ceremony with a date to be determined prior to each academic year.

Inductees will also be honored at a school mass that occurs in close proximity to the date of the Hall of Fame Ceremony.

Inductees will be featured in the Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy Hall of Fame display area.
