Youth Protection and Clearances:
Current Faculty, Staff, & Volunteers

Current certificates issued more than 36 months ago must obtain new certifications on or before 12/31/15.  Certificates issued less than 36 months ago must obtain new certificates within 36 months.  In order to meet the state requirements, all faculty, staff, and current volunteers at Saint Joe’s must complete and submit clearances and the Arrest Conviction Report Form. Questions should be directed to the SJCA Business Manager.

To obtain compliance with PA law, please follow the steps below:

Step 1: Complete the PA Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151) directly on the Department of Public Welfare website.

  • Cost: $10

  • The results will be sent to you electronically.

  • Print the clearance to send to the Saint Joe’s Business Manager.

 

Step 2: Complete the PA Criminal History Check (Act 34) directly on the Pennsylvania State Police website.

  • Cost: $10

  • The results will be sent to you electronically.

  • Print the clearance to send to the Saint Joe’s Business Manager.

 

Step 3: Print and complete the Arrest Conviction Report Form (Act 24).

 

Step 4: Complete the PA Department of Education fingerprint clearance at www.pa.cogentid.com.

  • Cost: $27

  • Print the registration ID to take with you to the fingerprinting facility.

  • Cogent will mail you a 2-page unofficial results report.  When you receive the unofficial report, please submit it.

 

Step 5: Submit all paperwork listed above to Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy in an envelope marked Attn: Business Manager to the school office.

 

Important Notes:

  • Current faculty, staff, and volunteers who have completed either the online Youth Protection course or the prior Protecting God’s Children program do not need to re-take the online youth protection course.

  • Please allow 8 weeks for documents to be processed by the Saint Joe’s and Diocesan Youth Protection Coordinators.

  • Clearances are valid for 3 years, from date of issue.

  • Individuals who have had clearances done within the past 12 months should contact the Saint Joe’s Business Manager before beginning the process of obtaining new clearances.
