The generosity of the Saint Joseph's community of alumni, parents, and friends is instrumental 

Since its inception, the generosity and dedication of the Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy community of alumni, parents and friends as been instrumental to our mission of educating and preparing young women and men for lives of purpose in a global society.

What is the purpose of the Giving Campaign?
Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy's Giving Campaign finances strategic projects and ensures a positive financial future for the school.  Giving campaigns are common among many Catholic and academic institutions.

What is the monetary goal of the Giving Campaign?
The overall goal of the Giving Campaign goal is to raise $100,000 for the Joseph's Fund between July 1st and June 30th of each year.  More moderate goals are also set for the Named Scholarship program and the EITC program, which are used to support need-based scholarships.

Is the Giving Campaign a one-time event?
Unfortunately, no.  The Giving Campaign includes a variety of initiatives that happen throughout the year, including:

  • Annual Joseph's Fund Appeal (September - December)
  • Student-driven Raffle (October)
  • National Giving Tuesday (November)
  • NCEA Giving Tuesday (February)
  • Support A Student Campaign (March)
  • Centre Gives Event (May)

Where is the money going?
Proceeds from the Giving Campaign are directed, in general, to the Joseph's Fund and help finance projects that have been identified in the school’s strategic plan, including, but not limited to,

  • Tuition assistance
  • Technology program
  • World language program

Who is being asked to give?
We are asking all members of the community to support Saint Joseph’s, including our parents, faculty, staff, advisory board, grandparents, alumni, friends and corporate partners, to consider supporting our school through a financial donation.

To ensure that your donation is properly recorded, please, submit your check made payable to "Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy" with the completed Donation Form.

If you are interesting in setting up a recurring donation, please, contact Ms. Jennifer Mallett at jmallett@sjcacademy.org or 814-808-6118 to discuss this option and make the necessary arrangements.

Can someone who is not a school family, grandparent or alum donate to the campaign?
Yes, by all means! Anyone who wishes to support the Giving Campaign, may do so in the same manner listed above.

Does the Giving Campaign replace other fundraisers?
No, the Giving Campaign does not replace fundraisers.  The Giving Campaign raises funds above and beyond school fundraisers.  Our school has been blessed by always having successful fundraising events. It is a goal of the school that our fundraisers will continue to be fun, social experiences for our whole school community.

Why don’t we just raise tuition to cover costs?
Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy has always provided high-quality, affordable, catholic education for over 10 years in Centre County, PA. It is our goal to keep the tuition affordable and comparable in cost to other Catholic schools in Central Pennsylvania.

Does this replace my donation to my Catholic parish?
No. Our school population is comprised of active, supportive members of the Catholic Church. Our school is a ministry of the following parishes:

  • Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church
  • Church of the Good Shepherd
  • Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church

We realize that many families tithe to their churches and then give to other charitable organizations such as a university, local charity, health research organizations. We hope donors consider Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy after tithing to their parish church and/or the Diocese-related campaigns.

Is my contribution tax-deductible?

May I make my gift in honor of someone?
Absolutely!  Donations can be made in honor or in memory of any person. Please note that on the form or envelope when making your donation.

Can I earmark my donation for a certain effort at Saint Joseph's?
It is preferred that donations are made to our general, unrestricted fund called the Joseph's Fund.  This fund is used to cover costs associated with prioritized and strategic projects. However, we will honor requests for specific, earmarked items.  Please contact Ms. Jennifer Mallett, Head of School, at jmallett@sjcacademy.org or 814-808-6118 to make specific arrangements.

Can my donation be anonymous?
Yes, donors wishing to remain anonymous can request that on the donation envelope.

How much am I expected to give?
Every gift, no matter the amount, is welcomed and appreciated. Appropriate gift amounts can only be determined by the individual or family. The goal is that every family will participate at a level that is comfortable for them. We ask each family to prayerfully consider the value they place on their child’s education, and give with the confidence that every dollar enhances the excellent educational experience for all students at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy.

Is Saint Joseph's the only Catholic school with a Giving Campaign?
No.  Other schools in the Diocese have annual fund campaigns as well as endowments.
