Excellence in Scholarship

Scholarship is the second pillar of Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy. A school-wide commitment to excellence, combined with encouragement from administrators, faculty and peers, sets apart our approach to academics at Saint Joseph’s.

Academic Curriculum
Our academic curriculum is rigorous and relevant.  It is designed to deliver a complete education, emphasizing personal excellence in mind, body and spirit. Our teachers use student-centered teaching strategies that encourage exploration, critical thinking, and the development of advanced writing and oral presentation skills.  Students graduate prepared to succeed at leading colleges.

Homework Help, Tutoring, and Learning Support
Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy values the contributions of all learners within our school community, recognizing that some may need additional support outside the classroom.  Below is a summary of options available to Saint Joseph’s students.

Saint Joseph’s Teachers – All Saint Joseph’s teachers are available to provide supplemental one-on-one instruction for homework and examination preparation.  Students should reach out to the teacher directly to arrange for this.

Saint Joseph’s NHS Peer Tutoring – Saint Joseph’s Peer tutors are members of the National Honor Society and have received an A in the courses they tutor.  Students interested in being partnered with a peer tutor should contact Mrs. Robertson directly at mrobertson@sjcacademy.org. There is no cost for peer tutoring.

College and Career Counseling
Saint Joseph's faculty and staff actively help our students develop the skills needed to navigate the transition from high school to college life.  Saint Joseph's students get hands on preparation for SAT and ACT testing.  As part of retreat days and embedded course sequences, students review college information, learn the ins and outs of the college application process, and try out interview techniques.  Further, students explore careers and college majors, with the goal of identifying those that most readily match with personal interests, educational plans, and life goals.
