Educational Tax Credit Improvement Program

Turn Your PA State Income Taxes Into Scholarships for Saint Joseph's Students

Thank you for considering participation in the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program. EITC participants transform their tax dollars into scholarships and financial aid for students at Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy.  Saint Joseph's has partnered with RedefinED to administer the school's EITC program.

How Does It Work?
Businesses and individuals that are approved and participate in the EITC program will receive a PA Tax Credit equal to 90% of their contribution up to their PA State Income Tax Liability.  As an added benefit, in some cases participation in the EITC program can help individuals and businesses reduce their own PA income tax liability.

How Does It Help Saint Joseph's?
The EITC program enables individuals and businesses working PA to direct their state income tax liability to Saint Joseph's, so that these funds can be used for need-based student scholarships. Many Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy students are in need of financial support for their Catholic education. Without this financial support, some students would not be able to attend Saint Joseph's.

Is There A Minimum Amount to Contribute?
Yes.  To participate, an individual or business must contribute at least $1000.

How Does a Business/Individual Participate?
There are four steps to the EITC participation process:

Step 1: Submit Pledge Form (Planned Contribution)
Download and complete the simple one-page pledge form (see button below) and submit
the completed form to RedefinED School Advancement at info@redefiningeducation.org.
Once your form is received, RedefinED will register you with a scholarship organization.

Step 2: Receive Electronic Documents & Complete Contribution
Beginning August 1, the scholarship organization will email participants electronic
documents confirming participation, along with instructions on how to complete their
contribution.

Step 3: Receive K-1 Tax Form
At the beginning of the following calendar year, the scholarship organization will send
participants a K-1 tax form. This form must be filed with your taxes, as it is required to
receive the 90% tax credit/refund. All scholarship organizations distribute K-1 forms by
March 15.

Step 4: Receive Tax Credit/Refund
By late summer to early fall, you will receive your Pennsylvania income tax credit or
refund—just in time to participate in the program again, if you choose.

EITC Participation Is Limited - Apply Early!
It is important to note that annual EITC Tax Credit availability is limited. Businesses/Individuals will automatically be approved for their 2nd-year contribution but will be required to sign a new 2-year contract every 2 years. Credits are made available on a first-come, first-served basis so it is important to apply for credits early.
