Honoring Saint Joseph's Student-Athletes That Go Beyond

One of the highlights of Athletics Award Assembly is  the announcement of athletic awards.  These awards were given to Saint Joseph’s student-athletes that go the extra mile for their team and sport.  Below is a summary of these awards.  For more information or a list of award winners contact the school office at athletics@sjcacademy.org or 814-808-6118.

Highest Team GPA Award
This award is presented to the Saint Joe’s athletic team with the highest average GPA for the academic year.

Saint Joseph the Worker Award
This “career honor” is awarded to a senior, who has shown astonishing growth throughout their high school years, and is poised to carry the legacy of our namesake to the next phase of his/her educational journey.

Saint Sebastian Award for Excellence in Athletics
The recipients exemplify traits that characterize our school community, displaying excellence in Faith, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service; coupling these important qualities with athletic success.

District VI Dean Rossi Sportsmanship Scholarship Award
The recipients model our high standards of sportsmanship in every scenario and display genuine gratitude for the opportunities afforded them. The scholarship is given by the PIAA District VI.

Centre County Sports Hall of Fame Award Scholarship
The recipients of this award and scholarship given by the Centre County Sports Hall of Fame must be a graduating senior male and female student, who is a varsity letter winner, who was a major contributor to the team’s success through playing time and leadership.

Centre Daily Times  Snyder Award
Since 1958, the James H. Snyder Award, named in honor of the late Centre Daily Times sports editor, honors senior student-athletes who've excelled both on and off the field.
