Educational Tax Credit Improvement Program

Turn Your PA Tax Payments Into Scholarships for Saint Joseph's Students

Thank you for considering participation in the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program. EITC participants transform their tax dollars into scholarships and financial aid for students at Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy.  Saint Joseph's has partnered with RedefinED to administer the school's EITC program.

How Does It Work?
Businesses and individuals that are approved and participate in the EITC program will receive a PA Tax Credit equal to 90% of their contribution up to their PA State Income Tax Liability.  As an added benefit, in some cases participation in the EITC program can help individuals and businesses reduce their own PA income tax liability.

How Does It Help Saint Joseph's?
The EITC program enables individuals and businesses working PA to direct their state income tax liability to Saint Joseph's, so that these funds can be used for need-based student scholarships. Many Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy students are in need of financial support for their Catholic education. Without this financial support, some students would not be able to attend Saint Joseph's.

How Does a Business/Individual Participate?
There are four steps to the EITC participation process:

Step 1 - Submit pledge (planned contribution) form
Download and complete the simple one-page pledge form (see button below) and submit this form to Saint Joseph's partners at RedefinED. Saint Joseph's has partnered with RedefinED to administer the school's EITC program.

Step 2 - Electronically sign joiner form
Beginning August 1st, RedefinED will email participating businesses/individuals a electronic form confirming participation. The individual or representative of the business opens the form on his/her computer and signs and submits the form electronically via DocuSign.

Step 3 - Send in contribution check
Following step 2, businesses/individuals will be prompted to mail their contribution check to a BLOC (Business Leadership Organized for Catholic Schools) which will direct the contributions to Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy. In turn, the BLOC documents the contribution.

Step 4 - Submit K1 with PA income tax documents to use credit
At the beginning of the subsequent calendar year, the BLOC will send the participating business/individual a tax form (K1).  This form is submitted with the individual's/business's PA State tax documents so that the tax credit will be applied. The K1 must be filed in order to receive the tax credit.

EITC Participation Is Limited - Apply Early!
It is important to note that annual EITC Tax Credit availability is limited. Businesses/Individuals will automatically be approved for their 2nd-year contribution but will be required to sign a new 2-year contract every 2 years. Credits are made available on a first-come, first-served basis so it is important to apply for credits early.

Who Can Participate?

To participate, individuals/households who have  an annual PA personal income tax liability of $1000 or more.  (Hint: Check out line 12 on your PA Income Tax Return to confirm your PA Tax Liability amount.)
